I'm a big guy on fitness. I strongly believe that everyone should be physically fit if their body allows it. Obviously some people with heart conditions, disabilities, diseases etc can't be as fit as a "normal healthy individual" I'm not saying everyone needs to be able to squat 400 pounds and be able to run a marathon. However I believe every person should feel comfortable in the skin they are in as well as exercise enough to be healthy.
The main reason for this is health concerns. I am from Canada and obesity is thought to cost up to 7 billion dollars per year. (Andre 2011) Think of what we could do with that 7 billion dollars. We could build roads, schools, houses. We could aid other countries we could fight poverty here in Canada. 7 billion dollars can do a lot. Yet here we are spending it on people being unable to put down a cheeseburger and got for a walk. I find it ridiculous that you here about the dangers of obesity. In Britain over 30,000 people die because of obesity related diseases (Beezy). I find this ridiculous. That's 30,000 people who could have made a difference in the world. You literally owe it to yourself, your friends, your family, and even your society to not be obese. Nobody is perfect, if you are a little chubby but overall in good health your fine. However if you obese I have a few tips to get you started
1) Go for a walk. Literally if you get less than 15 minutes of exercise per day start with a 20 minute walk. A treadmill, or outside doesn't matter just go for a walk.
2) Do resistance training. If you can afford a gym awesome, if you can't you can do push ups body weight squats planks etc. You have access to the internet if you are reading this google some workouts.
3) Eat healthier. I'm not going to give you a "super diet" because their isn't one. Everyone knows what is healthy and what isn't. It's not rocket science if you start to get serious then you can start counting calories and macro nutrients but if you are just starting just eat your veggies, and don't go to mcdonalds everyday.
4) DO SOMETHING. This is honestly the key to everything. Don't get caught up by people saying you Need to be in the gym 5 times a week taking 6 different supplements and following a vegan diet. If you enjoy that and are healthy doing it by all means go for it. All that matters is you find something that works for you you stick to it and start to see changes.
We need to start a revolution. Imagine a fit healthy country. Nobody is obese. Imagine the confidence and strength that country would have. The money that country would save on healthcare. How much more money would be in consumers pockets because they are spending less at Mcdonald's.
